Welcome to Medopad. Your care team has chosen this mobile app to help you keep track of your health and optimise your care. Let’s help you get started on this journey.

What is ‘Medopad’ ?

Medopad is a mobile app for patients like you. It tracks your health and activity at home, and shows your care team your progress.

Who has access to my data ?

Your care team will be given access to your data when you make your Medopad account. Your care team can access your data at any time through their own portal. You can choose who your data is shared with at any time in the app.

When to use Medopad ?

Medopad will be added to your phone, so it’s important you keep it with you during the day. Your care team has chosen the activities for you (e.g. blood pressure) and it’s important you complete them as prescribed.

  1. Medopad app on your phone

Before getting to the fun part you need to make your Medopad account using your email address and your smartphone.

To make your account you need to have an email address (eg. xxxx@gmail.com). This is easier if you can open your email on your smartphone, as an email message to finish set-up will be sent to your email address.

iOS version (iPhones)

If you are using an iOS please check the iOS version is 9.2 or above-  iOS and above will have this version. To find out you can check the Settings section on your phone.

Steps to download on iOS

  1. Open up the App Store and search "Medopad Patient Monitoring"

  2. Download Medopad app onto your phone (this may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection)

  3. Once the app has downloaded, click to open it

Android (eg. Samsung)

If your smartphone is an Android, please check the Android version is 5.0 or above. You can find this information on your phone settings in ‘about device’.

Steps to download on Android

  1. Open up the Play Store and search "Medopad Patient Monitoring"

  2. Download Medopad onto your phone (this may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection)

  3. Once the app has downloaded, click to open it

If your team has asked you to count your steps or do the “6 minute walk test” then make sure the phone can measure steps (some  Android devices do not have the technology to support the Medopad app)

 

2. Steps to register your account

Now that the Medopad app is on your phone, you will need to make your own account.

  1. Click on “register a new account” (see image below)

  2. Please provide

    1. Your email address

    2. Your full legal name so your doctor knows it is you

    3. Create a password with 8 characters or more, with at least one letter (the rest can be numbers/symbols)

    4. Your activation code is: 16566058 (this is a code just for you, please don’t share it with others)

    5. Click “register”

In your email account, you will have an email from no-reply@medopad.com, open the email, click on the blue “Activate” link and wait for the next page to fully load

  1. You can now open the Medopad app to log in with your email address and password.

  2. When you log in for the first time, your smartphone might ask to link with Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android).

    1. iOS: select “Turn all categories on”

    2. Android: allow access to Google Fit

By linking these to Medopad the app can use your phone’s technology to collect information (eg. daily steps)


3. Information on your data

Now that you have logged in, please take time to read the information screens about how your data is looked after and GDPR (General Data Protection Regulation)

The next step is to choose who can access your information:

  1. Your care team only

  2. Your care team and care research (anonymously)

Saying yes to your anonymous data being used for research may help other people with your condition in the future. After reading the information, please sign your name using your finger like you would a pen. You can now see Medopad’s app homepage. This screen will appear everytime you open the app.


4. Setting up your profile

In this section you will set up your profile and choose who do you want to share your information with.

  1. Click the profile option on the bottom right of your screen;

  2. Write your full name, sex and date of birth
    (Image above).

  3. Click on Care Providers below to choose the Clinicians you want to share information with (image below):

  4. Remember that all doctors or nurses working in the team will be able to view your main hospital records

  5. If you do not recognise any names please speak with your care team

Android

Profile

  1. Click the profile option on the top right of your screen

  2. Please write your full name, sex and date of birth (image above).

Care Providers

  1. Open Care Providers, using the 3 dot menu, on the top right of your screen to choose the Clinicians you want to share information with (image below):

  2. Remember that all doctors or nurses working in the team will be able to view your main hospital records

  3. If you do not recognise any names please speak with your care team

You are now fully registered and your app is ready to use

5. Your activities

On the homepage, you will find all the important activities your care team has chosen for you.

Log your symptoms

Your team have put together a list of important symptoms to look out for, tick any which you are feeling at that time. Please complete them weekly..

Questionnaire

These questionnaires have been chosen by your team for your condition.

The recovery support assessment form should be completed when you register on the app.

The surgery tracker allows you to log any procedures that you have had to date.

The imaging tracker allows you to log the most recent imaging examination you have had.

The pain tracker allows you to log you pain as often as you experience it.

The quality of life questionnaire should be completed pre op, 4 weeks post op and 6 months post op.

The patient recovery questionnaire should be completed pre-op, post op 24 hours, post op 48 hrs and post op 4 weeks.

Completing these questionnaires will give your doctor a fuller picture of your health.

Daily steps

Keep moving! Being active can have a great impact on how our health. Your smartphone will record your daily steps if you carry it with you.

My Journal

This is you personal diary, where you can write about your experiences, thoughts or feelings. It can also be handy to keep notes of anything you want to talk about with your team at your next appointment. You may be able to use the microphone on your phone’s keyboard for speech-to-text. Your team do not regularly check this area, so please do not use it in medical emergencies.

Photo

If you are concerned about your surgical wound, please phone the clinical nurse specialist on 02073177779 and take pictures of your surgical wound in the photo module of the app. You can add any comments to the picture.

Medication tracker

To add your medication, click the “plus” sign on the right-hand corner. Write the details and repeat for each different item. Once saved, you will receive alerts to remind you to take your medication. You should tick them as you take them..

The doses you have taken will be shown as a percentage of the total you need to take in a day- it should reach 100% at the end of the day when you have taken every dose.

Please include any over the counter medication or supplements you may be taking so your team have a full picture.

 

6. Your dashboard

The dashboard is where you can find all the information you have entered in each activity. The information will be shown in a graph format so both you and your doctors can have a quick and clear view of any changes. Using the timeline bar the graphs can show your information in weeks, months or years.

7. Your learn section

The Learn section on our app has useful info, links and videos. These are chosen by your care team to help you know more about your health, making your day-to-day life better. Some information may not be relevant to you as the Learn section is shown to all patients your team looks after.
