Welcome to your Menopause app

Women of 50 are the backbone of society, just at a time when the menopause hits. It hits some women very hard and they do not get the help they deserve. Dr Morton’s and Medopad are on a mission to validate their problem through data collection and sharing, and then provide them with a convenient, affordable solution.

This study aims to show that individualised data collection and sharing with gynaecologists produces better outcomes. During this study we will provide Medopad’s remote monitoring solution, offering access to peri- and post-menopausal women living in the UK, to monitor and collect data about their symptoms and allow them to manage and track their treatment benefits objectively.

Who has access to my data ?

Your care team at Dr Morton’s will be given your name and email address, in order to register you for your 3 months of free consultations. This will be done securely and in accordance to Dr Morton’s privacy policy. At the time of your consultation, the doctor will ask your permission to view and discuss with you all the information you have collected on your Dr Morton’s Menopause app. You can choose, if you wish, to share your data with other professionals, such as your GP, at any time in the app.

When to use the Menopause app ?

The Medopad Patient Monitoring app will be added to your phone, so it’s important you keep it with you during the day. The Dr Morton’s team have chosen the most commonly troublesome symptoms to be monitored (eg. hot flushes) and it’s important you complete the charts as requested.

What to expect next?

Shortly after submitting your details a member of the Dr Morton’s team will be in contact with you via email, with instructions on how to register with Dr Morton’s services specific to the Menopause study. You need to create a GoCardless account from within your Dr Morton’s secure portal. This is needed both to confirm your identity and in case you wish to be prescribed medication or use other services. As soon as this is completed you will  receive an email with the activation code and instructions to download the app and how to get started!


  1. Medopad app on your phone

Before getting to the fun part you need to make your Medopad account using your email address and your smartphone.

To make your account you need to have an email address (eg. xxxx@gmail.com). This is easier if you can open your email on your smartphone, as an email message to finish set-up will be sent to your email address.

iOS version (iPhones)

If you are using an iOS please check the iOS version is 10.3 or above-  iPhone 5 and above will have this version. To find out you can check the Settings section on your phone.

Steps to download on iOS

  1. Open up the App Store and search "Medopad Patient Monitoring"

  2. Download Medopad app onto your phone (this may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection)

  3. Once the app has downloaded, click to open it

Android (eg. Samsung)

If your smartphone is an Android, please check the Android version is 5.0 or above. You can find this information on your phone settings in ‘about device’.

Steps to download on Android

  1. Open up the Play Store and search "Medopad Patient Monitoring"

  2. Download Medopad onto your phone (this may take a few minutes depending on your internet connection)

  3. Once the app has downloaded, click to open it

If your team has asked you to count your steps or do the “6 minute walk test” then make sure the phone can measure steps (some Android devices do not have the technology to support the Medopad app). Downloading ‘Google Fit’ from the play store will enable your phone to count steps.

2. Steps to register your account

Android (eg. Samsung)

  1. Select ‘Register new account’

  2. Please provide

    2.1. Your activation code

    2.2. Your full legal name so your doctor knows it is you

  3. You can choose to register using your mobile number or your email address

3.1. Mobile number

3.1.1. Enter mobile number and select country

3.1.2. You will receive a SMS message with a verification code

3.2. Email Address

3.2.1. Enter email address

3.2.2. In your email account, you will have an email from no-reply@medopad.com, open the email, click on the blue “Activate” link and wait for the next page to fully load

iOS version (iPhones)

  1. Select ‘Don’t have an account or forgot it’

  2. Please provide

    2.1. Your full legal name so your doctor knows it is you

    2.2 Your activation code and click” register” (this is a code just for you, please don’t share it with others)

    2.3. Your email address

  3. Create a password with 8 characters or more with at least one letter (the rest can be numbers/symbols)

  4. In your email account, you will have an email from no-reply@medopad.com, open the email, click on the blue “Activate” link and wait for the next page to fully load

Android

  1. You can now open the Medopad app to log in with your email address and password.

  2. When you log in for the first time, your smartphone might ask to link with Apple Health (iOS) or Google Fit (Android).

    1. iOS: select “Turn all categories on”

    2. Android: allow access to Google Fit

By linking these to Medopad the app can use your phone’s technology to collect information (eg. daily steps)


3. Setting up your profile

In this section you will set up your profile and choose who do you want to share your information with.

  1. Click the profile option on the bottom right of your screen;

  2. Write your full name, sex and date of birth
    (Image above).

  3. Click on Care Providers below to choose the Clinicians you want to share information with (image below):

  4. Remember that all doctors or nurses working in the team will be able to view your main hospital records

  5. If you do not recognise any names please speak with your care team

Android

Profile

  1. Click the profile option on the top right of your screen

  2. Please write your full name, sex and date of birth (image above).

Care Providers

  1. Open Care Providers, using the 3 dot menu, on the top right of your screen to choose the Clinicians you want to share information with (image below):

  2. Remember that all doctors or nurses working in the team will be able to view your main hospital records

4. Your activities

On the homepage, you will find all the important activities your care team has chosen for you.

Questionnaire

The team at Dr Morton’s have put together a list of important symptoms to look out for, which you will find under “Symptom Questionnaire”. Please complete this once a week, by selecting any symptom you are feeling at that time.

My Journal

This is your personal diary, where you can write about your experiences, thoughts or feelings.

You can use this section to mention any further symptoms you might be feeling, Please refer to the list below for some examples or feel free to type any other symptoms that you think suitable.

  • Aching joints

  • More tired than usual

  • Heart palpitations

  • Bloated abdominal feeling

  • Breast tenderness

  • Skin itching

  • Vaginal dryness

  • Irregular troublesome periods

  • Pain during intercourse

  • Low mood or depression

  • Panic attacks

  • Easy tearfulness

  • Decreased ability to concentrate

  • Urinary Frequency

Daily steps

Keep moving! Being as active as you can will have a great impact on how you feel. Your smartphone will record your daily steps whilst you are carrying it with you, and you can log into the app regularly to look at your count.

Weight measurement

Please complete this when you take a weight measurement. This will help your doctors to see any weight changes that can be linked to your symptoms or medication.

Blood Pressure Measurement

Record your blood pressure readings when you have this recorded, to share with your doctors.

Medication tracker

To add your medication, click the “plus” sign on the right-hand corner. Write the details and repeat for each different item. Once saved, you will receive alerts to remind you to take your medication and you should tick them as you take them.

The doses you have taken will be shown to you as a percentage of the total you need to take in a day- you should reach 100% at the end of the day when you have taken every dose.

Please include any over the counter medication or supplements you may be taking so your team have a full picture.

Daily Check-in

Here you can record your daily mood, from 1 (poor) to 5 (excellent).

6 Min Walk Test

Our goal is to help people live longer and healthier lives, which we aim to achieve by studying and looking at new ways to detect health related changes. For this reason, we’ve added the 6 Minute Walk Test to the app with future possibility to detect early changes related to bone health.

If possible, please complete this weekly or as often as possible. For the best results, when possible, please follow the guidelines below:

  • Once you’ve started the test place the phone in your right pocket and start walking

  • Walk on the same flat surface

  • Wear flat shoes and non restrictive clothing (eg. skirts)

 

5. Your dashboard

The dashboard is where you can find all the information you have entered in each activity. The information will be shown in a graph format so both you and your doctors can have a quick and clear view of any changes. Using the timeline bar the graphs can show your information in weeks, months or years.

7. Your learn section

The Learn section on our app has useful info, links and videos. These are chosen by your care team to help you know more about your health, making your day-to-day life better. Some information may not be relevant to you as the Learn section is shown to all patients your team looks after.
